Join professional guide and local resident Eduardo Arocho on a walk through Humboldt Park. Located on Chicago’s Northwest Side, the Division Street area (a.k.a. Paseo Boricua), with its stores and restaurants, is home to Chicago’s Puerto Rican community.
Humboldt Park has been the symbolic nucleus of Puerto Rican Chicago since the 1960s. Park thoroughfares have been renamed in honor of notables (such as former governor of Puerto Rico Luis Muños Marín and nationalist leader Pedro Albizu Campos), reflecting abiding concerns for the homeland.
This thought-provoking tour explores the history of this iconic neighborhood through the public art proudly displayed along the six blocks of Division Street and in Humboldt Park.
Tour runs approximately 90 minutes. Meet at Ciclo Urbano, 2459 W. Division Street, Chicago, IL 60622.
