Online Resources
The Chicago History Museum offers a number of online resources, to assist your exploration of Museum collections, and to provide context and interpretation.
Online Catalog
ARCHIE is the Museum's online catalog. It should be consulted in conjunction with the card catalogs and finding aids for books, periodicals, manuscripts, photographs, and prints located in the Research Center. It can help you find:
- Manuscripts cataloged since the mid-1980s
- Books and periodicals
- Photographic materials
- Digital images of selected collection materials, such as the Chicago Daily News glass negatives.
Electronic Encyclopedia of Chicago
In addition to helpful background content, the electronic Encyclopedia of Chicago features numerous primary source materials drawn from the Museum's collection.
Chicago Daily News Database
Photographs in the Chicago Daily News collection, 1902-1933, are included in our online catalog, and can be searched by keyword, including street and community names. Use the "limit by" feature and select "Chicago Daily News images" from the drop-down menu.
