Sundays 1:00-3:30 p.m., explore Chicago’s neighborhoods via its colorful L lines.

Location: All tours meet at the Concierge Desk of the Palmer House Chicago, 17 East Monroe Street.

Cost includes a one-day CTA pass.

Reservations and tickets are required. We regret that walk ups cannot be accepted.

Blue Line

Sundays, May 19, June 30 and July 28, 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Long before it made it to O’Hare, the Blue Line connected downtown with the city’s western park system. This tour covers the history of the most ambitious of the four original elevated lines. You’ll explore the Pilsen and Wicker Park neighborhoods and learn about the development of the subways.

Brown Line

Sundays, June 2, July 7 and August 11, 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Squeezed between buildings, back porches, and pocket yards, the Brown Line offers up a broad ethnic and farming heritage. Take in the architecture of the business district at Armitage, explore the German traditions of Lincoln Square, and admire the tree-lined streets of Ravenswood Manor.

Green Line West

Sundays, June 9, July 14 and August 25, 1:00-3:30 p.m.

This tour affords plenty of heavy-duty industrial and railroad sights, including abandoned factories and active freight lines. You’ll step off the train once or twice to visit sites along the way, such as the Garfield Park Conservatory and historic Oak Park.

Green Line South

Take a historic trip on Chicago's oldest L line. We'll step off the train to walk through the architecturally renowned campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology, learn about neighboring Bronzeville and the Great Migration, and discover where Louis Armstrong got his start.
